This position is responsible for the Security Officer Force and security control console during an assigned shift. Ensures security positions and security checks are conducted as required by DoD Regulation 5220.22-M, National Industrial Security Operating Manual and IDA Security Practices. Coordinates resources and implements prearranged procedures during shifts. Takes proactive action as necessary. Makes independent, on-the-spot, decisions during emergencies or when a situation is not covered within established procedures. Due to the nature of the work and the requirement at times for extended coverage, this position is often required to work overtime hours or hours outside of a regularly scheduled shift.
1. Must be familiar with all normal and emergency Security Officer procedures, each duty post, and the physical layout of the facility. This includes building utilities, sprinkler system, machinery, and any special features.
2. Performs the duties of a Security Officer which may include some or all of the following duties:
a. visually checks security area access badges
b. escorts unscheduled and uncleared personnel or visitors around the facility
c. walks around building(s), checking on locked safes, looking for safety hazards, security violations or unauthorized activity
d. manually picks up bagged classified waste weighing up to 10 pounds from divisions and directorates and loads into push cart, pushes cart to C&D, unloads and stacks bagged materials in vault for storage
e. writes entries into shift log; writes or completes special reports on computer
f. patrols all areas of building on foot
g. issues, maintains record of, and retrieves badges using sign-in log sheets
h. responds to alarms and emergency situations by summoning police, fire or other emergency personnel as needed, operates sprinklers and fire equipment; renders first aid if necessary; records emergency response actions in computer
3. Schedules and assigns Security Officers and Security Aides to posts and duties. Records events during the shift. Provides on-the-spot training and counseling as necessary. Documents improper conduct and/or implementation of procedures.
4. Provides input for security officer evaluations, disciplinary action and other personnel actions.
5. Monitors Alarms and cameras through the security control console. Responsible for notifying the building engineer, emergency personnel, police, IDA senior management, etc of emergency situations (e.g. power outages, equipment problems, fire)
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
U.S. Citizenship.
Ability to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearances.
High school diploma or equivalent and special training in law enforcement/security.
Three or more years of work experience.
Ability to use a computer.
Ability to physically walk around facility and respond on short notice to alarms or emergency situations.
Ability to lift packages or materials weighing 10 pounds.
Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
Ability to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearances.
Due to the nature of the position and the possibility of schedules being reassigned, the incumbent should make themselves available for contact outside normal duty hours.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
