Exponent''s Polymer Science & Materials Chemistry Practice provides technical expertise that spans a variety of polymeric materials, product forms (films, fibers, foams, nano-particles, non-woven fabrics, and molded, cast and extruded shapes), formulations (adhesives, inks, coatings, elastomers, paints, molding compounds, commodity thermoplastics and engineering resins), and manufacturing processes (injection molding, extrusion, compression molding, casting, blow molding, thermoforming, spray-up and composite lay-up, lamination, rubber mixing and compounding) across a broad array of industries.

Exponent is currently hiring entry-level consulting engineers in our Menlo Park, CA; Boston, MA; Bowie, MD; Atlanta, GA; Philadelphia, PA; and Shanghai, China offices. Various openings will become available throughout 2014 and 2015. Career growth will include the opportunity for project management, client interaction, and eventually client development.
Responsibilities for these positions include:
Participating in field inspections at failure and accident sites
Conducting analytical and hands-on failure investigations
Planning and executing laboratory diagnostic tests
Preparing written reports, proposals, and presentations
Qualifications for these positions include:
Ph.D. in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field is required
Must possess strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to synthesize technical information and present it to specialists and non-specialists alike
Excellent and creative problem solving ability
Must also have a proven dedication to quality and accuracy
Able to work independently, as well as lead and work in multidisciplinary teams
Strong desire to work in a fast-paced consulting environment
