Exponent's Thermal Sciences Practice provides services in a wide array of engineering applications and problem-solving ranging from fire protection engineering analysis at refineries, chemical processes, petrochemical, manufacturing, and other industrial facilities to transportation fire and explosion analysis. We proactively apply our engineering skills to improve the safety, reliability, and performance of both products and processes and to assist our clients in protecting life and property from the disruption of fires and explosions. We also investigate system failures and accidents for our clients to scientifically determine the root cause(s) of failure and to offer guidance for preventing accidents in the future.
We are seeking a Senior Consultant in Fire Protection Engineering . The successful candidate will be responsible for growing and developing an oil and gas fire protection consulting practice and expanding our capabilities in this area. Duties will include performing fire protection assessments, equipment failure and reliability analysis, process analysis, and investigation of fires, explosions, and releases. This individual must have a strong technical background in fire protection engineering, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and combustion. Career growth will involve increasing project management duties and substantial responsibility for generating revenue and client relations, as well as hiring technical staff.
Responsibilities for this position include evaluating and consulting on a wide variety of fire protection systems, components, and designs, including:
Flammability of materials
Fire protection
Detection and suppression systems
Industrial processes
Combustion systems
Fire protection water supplies
Building construction
Life safety
Fire protection code consulting
All aspects of building, fire, and mechanical codes
Qualifications for this position include:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Fire Protection Engineering, Chemical, Mechanical, or other discipline with an emphasis in Fire Protection Engineering

years of related work experience
Professional Engineering license preferred
Outstanding skills and proven track record in fire protection consulting
Significant business development experience with a proven track record
Demonstrated leadership skills, proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment, and strong mentoring skills with technical staff
Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills; must be able to communicate findings in the form of reports and presentations to our clients or in a public forum
Demonstrated ability to work independently and assertively
Strong project management and leadership experience
Enduring commitment to professional development as evidenced by track record of peer-reviewed publications, participation in technical conferences, and commitment to professional engineering licensure or certifications
Ability to travel with very little notice

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
